Product Designer - Bay Area

We are looking for a product designer who can understand the needs of highly-technical users and that is skilled at crafting thoughtful, crisp interfaces. In this role, you will create enterprise design solutions, supporting a team responsible for optimizing computing infrastructure at scale (~$10B spend a year). You will collaborate with other designers, engineers, product managers, and team leads and work on site with our client in Sunnyvale, CA. You are expected to have a solid understanding of enterprise UX, an interest in data visualization, and the ability to handle complex and technical subject matter.

  • Able to build relationships, understand client vision/direction and present designs clearly and concisely
  • Thoughtful, systematic thinker who is passionate about championing user-centric design and modern best practices
  • Strong intuitive design sense with the ability to track this thinking into a research-driven process
  • Enthusiastic about collaborating across disciplines
  • Able to work efficiently under pressure with careful attention to detail

What We're Looking For

  • A portfolio of strong and relevant UX design work
  • 4+ years of industry experience
  • A strong communicator who can effectively present their work to designers and non-designers alike
  • Experience working with, and contributing to, design systems
  • Expertise in modern digital design, prototyping, and workflow management (or collaboration) tools


  • Understand - Gain a deep understanding of products, technologies, user motivations, business goals, and engineering challenges
  • Envision - Partner closely with PM, ENG, BPA and other designers to create the best-in-class experience for specific enterprise & customer use cases
  • Design - Create storyboards, wireframes, high-fidelity designs, specifications, and interactive prototypes to guide design and development
  • Collaborate - Use research to select and refine solutions; Rapidly iterate on designs based on user feedback, tech constraints, and changing business needs
  • Make - Guide development to achieve high-quality product experiences, adhering to guidelines for accessibility, privacy or other constraints
  • Present - Present work to executive-level client stakeholders and represent Free Association at all stages of engagement
