UX Researcher - South Bay

As a UX Researcher on our team, you will design and conduct focus groups, remote usability testing and user surveys, and. In this role, you will work primarily with in-house users and collaborate with designers, engineers and product managers on site with our client in Sunnyvale, CA. You will explore the behaviors and motivations of a team responsible for optimizing computing infrastructure at scale, for one of the largest technology companies in the world. Your research will inform the design for usable and innovative enterprise design solutions. You are expected to have a solid understanding of UXR methods and tools, and the ability to effectively communicate research, insights and data to various (sometimes highly technical) stakeholders.

  • You love working with people and numbers
  • You know how to use research to inform design decisions
  • You know the ins and outs of different survey tools
  • You can present research clearly and concisely
  • You have good intuition but think in terms of hypotheses, tests and data to develop insight
  • You have excellent organizational skills and can work independently
  • You are capable of understanding highly technical workflows

What We're Looking For

  • 4+ years of relevant UXR experience
  • Bonus: formal education in Human Factors, Psychology, HCI/Computer Science, or other field emphasizing human behavior
  • Experience designing and conducting user research using a variety of methodologies
  • Experience partnering with design teams
  • A persuasive communicator who is passionate about championing user-centric research
  • Knowledge of statistics

Responsibilities

  • Gain a deep understanding of products and user motivations
  • Prepare and conduct user research activities
  • Plan, observe and moderate usability testing sessions and interviews
  • Administer questionnaires, surveys and interviews
  • Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and create research reports
  • Analyze, interpret and summarize existing research reports
  • Communicate findings from research to stakeholders
  • Iterate with engineering to hold products to high UX standards
  • Collaborate with product management
  • Present work to executive-level client stakeholders and represent Free Association at all stages of engagement
